As all of you can imagine from all my previous posts, my dear sweet wife is my Valentine. She has done so much for me already and continues to do it all that she is the obvious choice. If not her that it would be Jesus but I feel funny making Him my Valentine. He is my life and I call on Him every moment to help me get up, shower and His grace is sufficient for me.

The largest section of the book, chapters 4 - 22, cover the things that will begin happening after the Church Age and beyond into eternity. In these chapters the Holy Spirit through the Apostle John covers the seven major events of Bible prophecy. While scholars may debate the timing of these events, most all agree that these events will indeed transpire.

To a packed out crowd of over 500 Montanans who had assembled in minus zero weather to hear me speak, I made the statement, “Not all Christians are our friends, and not all non-Christians are our enemies.” Indeed, being able to identify our friends is more than half the battle.

While there are strands of this goddess motif running through parts of Judaism influenced by Sumerian and Babylonian influences, they are by no means all positive. Sure there is the Matronit, the supposed wife of God and the Shekinah, the Sabbath Queen, but there is also the Queen of the Damned, the great temptress, Lilith.

There are more miracles recorded in Mark than in the other Gospels, despite its being shorter. (Matthew's Gospel seems longer only because he includes the discourses - probably verbatim, having the skill to take them down in shorthand required of a customs official. Removing the discourses, it is shorter than Mark's.)

In spite of this lame attempt at biblical imagery, the theme of this movie, in my mind at least, seemed more centered around the dichotomy between determinism and randomness. And even in this area which caused many critics to pan the movie because God forbid there be any meaning to the universe lest anyone judge, they still got it totally wrong.

I just received an email from an old friend. Somehow, I had deleted his email from my address book for almost a year. I had not heard from him and wondered if he was still alive because I have known him for 15 years and he must be in his 90s by now. We come once again to the third chapter of Revelation as we turn our attention one more time to the seventh Church, the church of the Laodiceans. This was a literal congregation that existed at the time of the writing of this book, sometime between 90 - 96 A.D. It is located some 45 miles southeast of Philadelphia.

This past Saturday, January 15, Rick Warren launched his 52-week “Daniel Plan”, billed as “God’s prescription for your health”, with a kickoff seminar at Saddleback Church that was streamed live to the world via the web. We come this time to the last of the seven churches, the letter sent to the angel of the church of Laodicea. One of the many things that I find truly amazing concerning the Word of God is how the Holy Spirit never wastes words. There is no “filler” in the Bible. Everything is for a purpose, and corresponds to other things in scripture if one will search it out. This is certainly true with the book of Revelation. The various ways the Lord identifies Himself to each of these churches, and the promises and instruction to each one is specific to that particular congregation.

Are we headed toward the last days, the end times, the time of Jacob’s trouble, or is it business as usual? It’s been almost 2000 years since Yashua/Jesus walked the earth. Not many people recognized His coming the first time, how many are looking for His coming now?

Much has been written of late concerning the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's claim that he had a mystical vision of the return of the 12th Islamic Imam, a child who disappeared in the year 941, who will be the Mahdi, the Islamic Messiah. When this Mahdi returns, he will reign for 7 years and then bring final judgment and the end of the world. Many Christians believe that he actually will be what the New Testament calls the Antichrist who will rule and reign for seven years during the Tribulation.

A bedrock principle of Natural Law (the Law upon which Western Civilization rests) is the primacy of truth. Without a desire for, and appreciation of, truth, society cannot sustain itself. Lies, deceit, duplicity, etc., are more than moral evils; they are the bane of freedom and liberty. Take away truth, and one is left without honor, justice, or decency. Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. Remove the former and the latter will crumble.

People keep asking me about the Mayan prophecy of the end of the world in 2012 in spite of my writing to the contrary. Why would anyone listen to Mayan priests who ripped out the hearts of sacrificial victims? See Mel Gibson’s provocative movie Apocalypto if you need proof. People will listen to anything but the truth. Forget Jesus and the Bible and look to some noble savage in tune with the universe.

Christian Science founder Mary Baker Eddy died in December of 1910, just over 100 years ago. On December 30, 1910, one of her faithful followers claimed that Eddy would rise from the dead, just as Jesus did. It only took Jesus three days, however, and Mrs. Eddy has now been resting for a solid century.

We’re at the beginning of a new year. It is a starting point on our calendar, but I would point out that, in the realm of prophecy, it is just a continuation of the days that are leading up to the Tribulation, that seven-year period which is also called, The Time of Jacob’s Trouble.

We are continuing our study through the book of Revelation with the second division within the book, the things which are. This section, covered in chapters 2 and 3, contains the letters to the seven churches in Asia Minor. Again, these were literal congregations with very literal issues within them. Some of these churches were suffering very real persecution. The admonition, teaching, and correction Jesus has for these congregations addresses situations that were quite relevant to them at the time of writing.
